Running as an unenrolled independent, Nathaniel refuses to let party loyalty override common sense. He has no allegiance to party bosses in Augusta or Washington — only to the constituents of District 17. He's the kind of person who picks up the phone when you call, shows up to the town hall even when it's uncomfortable, and votes his conscience rather than the party line. That independence isn't a political brand for Nathaniel — it's how he's lived his entire life.
